The 5th term meeting of Turkish-Moldovan Joint Economic Committee (JEC) began in Kishinev, Moldova on Thursday.

Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen and Moldovan First Deputy PM and Economics & Trade Minister Igor Dodon attended the meeting.

There has been a remarkable improvement in commercial and economic relations between the two countries in the recent period, Tuzmen said.

Trade volume between Turkey and Moldova amounted to 200 million USD in 2007 and they aimed to increase this figure to 500 million USD in 2010, he said.

"There have been important developments in the area of construction between the two countries. Turkish companies assumed contracting projects worth 60 million USD in Moldova," Tuzmen stated.

Tuzmen also participated in Turkish-Moldovan Trade and Economic Cooperation Seminar.
