Turkish official tells Polish delegation, wants to boost ties

Chairperson of the Polish-Turkish Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group, Tadeusz Iwinski, and an accompanying delegation paid a visit to the chairman of the Turkish-Polish Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group, Lutfi Cirakoglu, in Ankara on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters while receiving the Polish delegation, Cirakoglu said that friendship and relations between Turkey and Poland had a very long history.

This friendship got strengthened in the last 5-6 years. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was the first Turkish prime minister to visit Turkey in the history of the Republic of Turkey. The presidents of both countries paid mutual visits, Cirakoglu said.

We wish to develop relations with Poland both at an international level and from an economic perspective, Cirakoglu said.

We must increase the current trade volume between Turkey and Poland from five billion USD to the level appropriate with the greatness of the two countries, Cirakoglu stressed.

Cirakoglu thanked Poland for its support to Turkey's EU bid.

Cirakoglu's meeting with the Polish delegation was later closed to the press corps.
