Turkish President Abdullah Gul received opposition leaders in Islamabad on Monday.

Chairperson of the Pakistan People's Party Benazir Bhutto and Chairman of the Tehrik-i-Insaf (Movement for Justice) Party Imran Khan met Gul on Monday.

"Mr. Gul and I discussed his party's experiences in Turkish democracy," Bhutto said. In response to a question, Bhutto stressed that "President Gul's meeting with Pakistani opposition leaders is not interference in Pakistan's local matters."

Gul-Bhutto meeting last around half an hour.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan remarked that Gul and he discussed the upcoming elections in Pakistan. "I have informed President Gul about our reasons for boycotting the elections," Khan told.

"President Gul reminded us that Turkey is a country in which democracy and Islam live together. We must all remember the Turkish experience in democracy," Khan underlined.
