Gul will attend the ministerial forum of the 35th Session of the General Conference of UNESCO as a special guest upon invitation of Director General Koichiro Matsuura, and deliver the opening speech.

He will also hold a tete-a-tete meeting with UNESCO Director General Matsuura.

Delegations, which will be comprised of culture, education, development or science ministers from 193 UNESCO-member states, will attend two separate sessions that will be held within the scope of ministerial forum on October 8. Also, the new director general of UNESCO will be chosen at the 35th General Conference.

"Season of Turkey" in France

The "Season of Turkey" activities started in France at the beginning of July with a show of the "Fire of Anatolia" dance group and "Mercan Dede" concert.

Turkey will be promoted by over 400 artistic and cultural activities in more than 70 cities in France for nine months.

"The Ottoman Caftans" exhibition at the Louvre Museum and "Istanbul for Centuries" exhibition at the Grand Palais will be the highlights of the season.

Turkish President Gul and French President Sarkozy will inaugurate the exhibition at the Grand Palais.

The Eiffel Tower, the symbol of Paris, will be illuminated by the colors of Turkish flag, red and white, for four days.

The "Season of Turkey" aims to contribute to promotion of Turkey's dynamics, creative differences, culture and heritage to the French society.
