A Turkish private airlines launched flights between an Aegean city and the Greek capital on Friday.
Turkey's Pegasus Izair made its first flight from the Aegean city of Izmir to the Greek capital of Athens.
Izmir's Governor Cahit Kirac, Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu, businessmen and journalists were aboard the first flight between the two cities.
Izair was established in Izmir April 2005, whereas Pegasus Airlines was founded in Istanbul in 1990 as a joint venture of Aer Lingus, Silkar Yatirim (investment) and Net
Pegasus made its first flight in May 1990.
The collaboration of Izmir's own airline, Izair, with Pegasus turned into a partnership on March 30, 2007.
Today, Pegasus has a fleet comprised of 23 aircraft including Boeing 737-800 together with its affiliate Izair.
