According to CNN Turk, the council, which holds its meetings every two months and is presided by President Abdullah Gul, will also discuss whether or not to halt its attacks against the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK).

It said that it was most likely that the council would opt for continuing the attacks in an attempt to eliminate all PKK elements, especially with the availability of US logistical support for Turkey.
