Turkish speaking countries gather in Antalya

Deputy speakers of Turkish, Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Azeri parliaments gathered in the southern resort city of Antalya on Thursday at the first meeting of the Interparliamentary Council of Turkish-Speaking Countries.

Deputy Speaker of Turkish parliament Nevzat Pakdil said the meeting aimed at expressing a will to diversify and boost areas of cooperation between Turkish-speaking countries, adding that there were deep linguistic, historical and cultural ties between these countries.

Pakdil also said Wednesday's meeting was preliminary a future gathering of speaker of parliaments for a wider council meeting which he would most probably be held in Turkish capital Ankara.
