UAE achievements hailed in Year Book

Since the establishment of the UAE federation in 1971, the country's experience stands out as the only successful union in the Arab world and the region, says Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Presidential Affairs.

UAE achievements hailed in Year Book

In the preface of the 2007 UAE Year Book, published by the External Services Department of National Media Council (NMC), the minister says the pace of development and growth in the UAE has placed the country on a par with the advanced countries of the world.

Shaikh Mansour attributes this rapid development to the wise leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses, Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the emirates.

Shaikh Mansour says the region is facing great challenges and the UAE leadership is very well aware of these challenges. The UAE leadership is determined to achieve bigger growth, he says.

The UAE has made all-round development in a record time, including political development, he says, citing the example of the recent elections to the Federal National Council (FNC).

The country saw its first elections on December 16, 18 and 20, 2006, to elect half the members of FNC.

In his presentation in the same book, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Foreign Minister, says the book showcases a full year's developments in the UAE.

Shaikh Abdullah says the book will serve as an important source of information and reference for those interested in knowing more about the country, including businessmen, tourists, visitors and researchers, as well as private and public libraries inside the UAE and abroad.

The book contains valuable information on the history of the UAE — its past, heritage, tradition, culture, infrastructure, economic, social, constructional, cultural, tourism and sports development, as well as developments in other areas like services, telecommunication, health, education and many others.
