A group of young people attacked the 25-year-old man on Monday evening, and fled from the scene.

The victim died on the spot of multiple stab wounds. A criminal case has been opened. Police have not ruled out that the murder was racially motivated.

This is the seventh fatal attack on a foreigner in Moscow since the beginning of the year.

Routine attacks by skinheads and far-right groups on foreigners and people with non-Slavic features have been reported across Russia in recent years. Some of the worst cities for racist attacks are Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the central Russian city of Voronezh.
