Iran signs co-op document with Louvre museum

Iran’s Tourism, Handicrafts and cultural heritage organization has signed a cooperation document with French Louvre museum.

The Iranian vice president, Masoud Soltanifar, head of the organization signed the Memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Paris Jan. 27, ISNA news agency reported.

The document covers cooperation in various fields including archeology and local arts. 

The Iranian officials, who made the visit at the invitation of the president of the Louvre Jean-Luc Martinez, also toured different parts of the museum including the history of Persia and the Islamic art sections.

Soltanifar is in Paris at the invitation of the Jean-Luc Martinez, the museum’s head.

Iran’s president, Hassan Rouhani heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation also arrived in Paris on 27 Jan. on the third leg of his four-day European tour.

Rouhani who is the first Iranian president who pays an official visit to the EU over the past 10 years, earlier visited Italy and Vatican.

During the Italy visit, Tehran and Rome signed a number of contracts worth at $18.4 billion covering various sectors including health and transportation.
