Renowned Japanese films will be screened at the festival between January 11 and 25.

The 10th Istanbul Japanese Film Festival will start at Akbank Sanat (Akbank Art) with Hirokazu Kore-eda’s “Like Father, Like Son” (Soshite chichi ni naru), the winner of the Jury Award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival on January 11.

Modern Japanese drama "Bread of Happiness" (Shiawase no Pan) directed by Yukiko Mishima, Nizo Yamamoto's animation film "Miyori’s Forest" (Miyori no mori), and "From Me to You" (Kimi ni todoke) directed by Makoto Shinkai - a renowned represantative of Japanese animation film - will be presented on the big screen at the festival.

Shinkai's other animation films "Voices of a Distant Star" (Hoshi no koe), "5 Centimeters Per Second" (Byosoku 5 senchi metoru), and "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" (Kumo no mukou, yakusoku no basho) will be also screened.

The films will be screened in Japanese with Turkish subtitles, and the festival will be followed free of charge.

Organized by the Consulate-General of Japan in Istanbul, Japan Foundation and Akbank Sanat, the festival will last between January 11 and 25.
