The festival, which highlights a specific Turkish city every year, will introduce the southwestern province of Diyarbakir this year.

US Chicago to host Turkish cultural festival in late May

U.S. city of Chicago will host a Turkish cultural festival between May 23-26, 2010.

"Chicago Turkish Festival", an annual event organized since 2002, will take place at "Daley Plaza" this year, featuring demonstrations of art, film, dance, music and gourmet food in an effort to promote the Turkish culture to Americans.

Throughout the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to get to know the traditional art of paper marbling and calligraphy, ceramic works, jewelry, handicrafts, Turkish folk dance, fashion and folk music.

The festival, which highlights a specific Turkish city every year, will introduce the southwestern province of Diyarbakir this year.

Diyarbakir's cultural and historical richness, handicrafts, traditional clothes and cuisine will be promoted in a tent to be built by the Governor's Office of Diyarbakir, officials said.
