Three army troops were killed and 11 injured in a roadside bomb blast in northwestern Hangu district on Wednesday despite a month-long ceasefire announced by the Taliban last week, officials said.
"The incident occured in Darmagaee, a suburban town of Hangu, where a bomb was planted along the roadside, and was detonated through remote control when a security convoy passed by," a senior military official, wishing not to be named, told Anadolu Agency. He confirmed that three personnel were killed and 11 injured in the blast.
This was the fourth consecutive attack on security forces during the last four days as various Taliban groups reportedly have refused to accept the month-long ceasefire announced by Tehrik e Taliban (TTP). The TTP, a mother organization of different Pakistani Taliban groups, in a bid to break the deadlock in peace talks with the government, aimed at bringing a negotiated end to 11 years long insurgency that has killed thousands.
