Eight people have been killed, and six injured in armed clashes between two tribes in the southwestern Baluchistan province Sunday, according to police and locals.
Clashes erupted early Sunday morning, when armed members of the powerful Bugti and Marri tribes attacked each other with sophisticated weapons in the remote town of Sohbatpur, located 700 kilometers off the port city of Karachi, accordıng to the police.
"Armed tribesmen are still taking positions in the area and firing on each other", Yunus Chandio, an official of Sohbatpur police told reporters.
"Eight bodies have so far been brought to the hospital", he added.
Residents told reporters that 11 people have been killed in the bloody clashes , however local police did not confirm that.
The Tribal belt along the border of southern Sindh and Southwestern Baluchistan province is home to several tribes and has been notorious for tribal feuds that have killed hundreds during the last three decades .Last Mod: 09 Şubat 2014, 12:48
