The Taliban has officially claimed responsibility for the bombing of a Lebanese restaurant in Kabul on Friday night, which killed 21 people including three UN employees, an IMF representative and a number of foreigners.
Zabihullah Muhajid, a Taliban spokesman, announced that the attack was carried out in revenge for a raid by ISAF and Afghan forces on senior Taliban leader Qari Nazar Gul on January 15 in the Parwan province, in which ‘enemy airstrikes destroyed up to 10 homes, razed several orchards as well as killing and wounding up to 30 innocent civilians mostly defenseless women and children’.
Afghan president Hamid Karzai also criticized the operation, confirming that a woman and a number of children had been killed.
ISAF on the other hand claimed that 10 Taliban fighters, one ISAF soldier and two civilians were killed in Wednesday’s raid.Güncelleme Tarihi: 18 Ocak 2014, 17:49
