China on Thursday called on Turkey to act with restraint following a Syrian attack on the south-eastern town of Akcakale on Wednesday in which Syrian artillery shells landing in the town killed 5 Turks and wounded 9 others.
In a statement made on Thursday, the Spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Hong Ley said that China always defended the idea of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries.
"We call on all related sides, including Turkey and Syria, to be calm and refrain from taking steps that may increase tension in the region," Hong Ley also said.
