Chinese and Russian parliaments issued a joint statement on the Syria crisis suggesting negotiation is the possible resolution to the crisis.

The foreign affairs committees of both China and Russia signed the joint statement, according to China's Xinhua News Agency.

Both countries expressed concern over the situation in China, said the statement adding turmoil, civilian casualties, refugee flows, ruin of cultural heritage and other tragic events have made the crisis one of the most horrible tragedies in the world.

Chinese and Russian people hope for an urgent solution to the crisis, the restoration of peace and an end to the bloodshed, it said.

It also said that external military intervention was "absolutely unacceptable".

"We welcome the decision of Syrian leaders to join the Chemical Weapons Convention as well as the Russia-US framework agreement on resolving the issue of Syrian chemical weapons," said the statement urging an early convening of the second international conference on Syria in Geneva.
