According to Vincent Metten, (ICT) International Campaign for Tibet's EU policy director, despite the fact that today China is one of the EU's key partners the Union member-states should not tolerate the systematic violations of human rights happening in Tibet and China in general on daily basis.
China is about to pass the law which would constitute a further and more serious threat to violations of freedom of religion, expression, assembly and association, and deepen already existing repression.
During the next China-EU summit this issue should be adressed as one of the main priorities, only this way stable and long-lasting China-EU relations can be built.
