Four people have been killed in a fourth day of continuous drone attacks in northwestern Pakistan.

The deaths came after two missiles were fired at a vehicle in the town of Dattakhel near the border with Afghanistan on Thursday, a senior intelligence official told the Anadolu Agency.

The town, within the troubled North Waziristan region, is considered a stronghold for the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, which has been accused of numerous attacks on foreign forces in Afghanistan and is affiliated to the Afghanistan-based Haqqani network.

Five U.S. drone strikes have killed 20 people over the last four days, according to officials.

Other attacks have targeted Shawwal, where Taliban militants are thought to be regrouping after being pushed from the rest of North Waziristan by a Pakistani military operation launched on June 15.

More than 3,000 people have been killed in U.S. drone strikes since 2004, though Pakistani intelligence officials and human rights organizations believe the majority of victims were civilians.
