India increases tariffs on electronic imports

India said on Thursday it will increase import tariffs for some electronic items and communications equipment, in what is considered another measure to curb imports and strengthen the falling currency.

This move is part of a plan to halt a further decline of Rup (INR), which has weakened more than 14 percent against the US dollar this year after being hit by a leak in emerging markets and other factors internal.
