30 people were injured in clashes between Tajiks and Kyrgyz residents along the border on Wednesday.
Fighting broke out between the people of the Kyrgyz Kok-Tash village and Tajik exclave of Vorukh, prompting border guards on both sides to disperse the crowds.
A store was also burned down in Zhaka-Oruk, some 30 kilometers from Kok-Tash.
Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan began talks in March on a possible land swap to help overcome a border dispute.
According to a RFE/RL report, Raziya Osorova, the head of the Kok-Tash village along the border, said that Kyrgyz villagers may be relocated to another region if the land is given to Tajikistan.
The border villages of Maseit, Aryk-Asty, and Tash-Tumshuk may also be subjected to a relocation scheme should the two sides agree.
The border has been closed since a breach in January resulted in a shoot-out between Kyrgyz and Tajik soldiers, leaving both sides with injuries.Last Mod: 08 Mayıs 2014, 17:40
