Pakistan to award state medal to OIC head

The secretary-general of the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) will pay a visit to Pakistan.

Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu will be awarded with the state medal of Pakistan by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on the anniversary of Pakistan's independence on March 23 for his efforts to find a solution to the Kashmir issue.

The insignia "Hilal-i Pakistan" is the biggest national order in Pakistan bestowed to civilians.

During his two-day stay in Pakistan, Ihsanoglu will also visit Swat region.

He is set to attend ground-breaking ceremony for a school to be built by the OIC in the village of Kanju for young girls.
