A Pakistani court Saturday ordered for registration of a case against the country's Geo TV for tarnishing the image of the country's powerful army and spy agency Inter Services Intelligence.
Geo TV had basically accused the agency of involvement in the attempted murder of TV host and journalist Hamid Mir in Karachi on April 19.
Judge, Jehangir Awan, of the Islamabad session court ordered the police to lodge a case against the owner of the channel, Mir Shakeel ur Rehman and Aamir Mir, brother of Hamid Mir, for damaging the reputation of state institutions without any evidence.
Hamid Mir was shot six times on his way to his office from Karachi airport. According to Geo TV, Mir had informed management in writing that if he were ever attacked or killed, the agency would be responsible for that.
The army and the agency deny the allegations.
