Philippines approves to pass the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) by June, a new time frame set by the Congress.

In a statement, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. expressed hope that Congress will approve the BBL during its final and third regular session in July.

Malacañang Palace ( the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the Philippines) conceded on Tuesday in time for President Benigno Aquino III's final State of the Nation Address (SONA). The 16th Congress will end its second regular session on Thursday, June 11, and will open its final session on July 27, the day of Aquino's sixth SONA.

Coloma also added some views, according to Philstar news.

"The decision of Congress leaders to continue working on the enactment of the Bangsamoro Basic Law beyond the current session provides an opportunity to gain broader support for achieving long-term peace, stability and progress in Mindanao," he said.

"Through continuing dialogue, differing viewpoints may be harmonized in crafting the law that, we hope, may be enacted shortly after Congress re-convenes in July. We will intensify efforts at creating heightened citizen awareness that is essential in engaging their active participation in the peace process," he added.

In an interview with state-run this morning, Coloma also conceded that the BBL still needs to be scrutinized.

He said the Palace continues to coordinate with Congress leaders for the passage of the BBL.
