Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is up for the presidential election again.

The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) said in a statement that Aliyev applied to the Central Election Committee as a candidate for the presidential election to be held on October 9.

YAP had nominated Aliyev in June as its candidate to run for a third term in the presidential election, however Aliyev had not announced his candidacy in person.
