A roadside bomb in Afghanistan's western Herat province on Monday killed 17 people, a police spokesperson said.

Shir Aga Khan said all of the deceased were from the same family including twelve women and four were children.

He said seven people including five children were wounded.

Khan blamed the Taliban for the blast in the Obi district of Herat.
