Russia-led force may send helicopters to Kyrgyzstan

A Moscow-dominated security group may send helicopters, trucks and other equipment to Kyrgyzstan to help its interim government quell ethnic clashes, Russian agencies reported on Monday.

"They have enough forces today but they do not have enough equipment, helicopters, ground transport ... even fuel," the agencies quoted Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha as saying.

The CSTO -- made up of former parts of the Soviet Union -- has so far stopped short of pledging troops to restore order in Kyrgyzstan, where at least 124 people have died.
