Seven people were killed and 101 wounded in street clashes between Thai anti-government protesters and troops in central Bangkok on Friday, the Erawan medical centre said.
Clashes erupted at multiple locations in the commercial heart of the capital after troops tried to set up a perimeter around a sprawling encampment occupied by red-shirted demonstrators. Clashes were still ongoing late on Friday.
Eight people have been killed and 112 wounded since Thursday evening in riots that followed the shooting of the red shirts' de facto military chief, who was critically wounded.
