A suicide bomber blew himself up Wednesday outside the residence of a ruling party’s MP in Pakistan’s northeastern Punjab province.

The attack left at least seven people dead and injured 15 others, police said.

Mubasshir Mekan, Dera Ghazi Khan district police chief, said the bomber targeted an election camp office set up beside the residence of Sardar Amjad Khosa, a parliamentarian associated with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML).

The dead included two candidates in the province’s upcoming local elections. TV footage showed ambulances moving the injured to a local hospital, where at least three people remain in critical condition.

The MP was not hurt as he was not home at the time of the bombing, police said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
