Six elderly people in eastern China have killed themselves prior to an upcoming ban on coffin burials, a local newspaper reported.
The Beijing News daily quoted family members of the six elderly as saying that their relatives had taken their lives to avoid a new regulation that bodies get cremated as of June 1 in Anhui province’s Anqing city.
The report said officials had begun confiscating coffins in May, causing a psychological impact on the community, in an effort to save space.
Local government officials, however, said that complex reasons other than the coffin burial ban were behind the deaths.Güncelleme Tarihi: 29 Mayıs 2014, 14:08
