Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan sign protocol on transportation

A cooperation protocol on transportation, 'Cooperation protocol on improvement of transportation' was signed Wednesday among Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

The protocol will be delivered to the leaders of the signatory countries at 'Summit of Turkish Council Heads of State', which is set to be held on August 15-16 in Baku.

'Working group on development of transportation’ and ‘1st meeting of ministers of transportation’ of Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking Countries were held on July 3 in Azerbaijan's capital Baku.

A memorandum of understanding on establishment of sister ports relations among Azerbaijan's Baku, Kazakhstan's Aktau and Turkey's Samsun provinces was also signed.

Turkish Minister of Transport Binali Yildirim stressed the importance of transportation between the West and the East stating ports and sea routes played a key role as well as railways and main roads.

He said the new memorandum of understanding would contribute a lot to conducting of the operations faster at the ports.
