Bosnian police arrested one man and were hunting for a second suspect linked to a bomb attack that killed a policeman and injured several others in the central town of Bugojno, a top police official said on Monday.
In one of the most serious security incidents in the Balkan country since an ethnic war ended in 1995, an explosive device went off outside Bugojno's police station on Sunday morning.
The blast left a large crater in the building's back wall and caused serious damage up to about 300 metres from the site.
"The person who activated the explosive device has been detained in custody. A few more people were arrested, questioned and released. Police are still hunting for the main suspect who had fled the scene of crime," police chief of the Muslim-Croat federation, Zlatko Miletic, told reporters in Sarajevo.
The arrested man, identified as Haris Causevic, had placed a bag filled with 14 to 15 kilogrames of explosive on the back wall of the police station, set it off and tried to flee but was seized by the police, Miletic said.
The police did not identify the other suspect, who escaped in an off-road vehicle.
