Bulgaria hands over BSEC presidency to Greece

Turkey's industry minister said on Friday that the Black Sea region had a great potential.

Speaking at the "22nd Meeting of the Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers of Member States of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC)" held in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, Turkish Industry & Trade Minister Nihat Ergun said Black Sea region had always had a primary position in Turkey's foreign policy.

Expressing the importance of improvement of cooperation in the region, Ergun said the BSEC was the right address to achieve such goal.

"Black Sea region, the center of Eurasia's strategic, commercial and transportation routes, has a great potential in terms of human force and natural resources. We should cooperate to benefit from this potential," Ergun also said.

During BSEC'S Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers meeting, Bulgaria handed over the council's term presidency to Greece.

After attending the gathering, Minister Ergun and the accompanying delegation departed from Sofia for Turkey.
