Kosovo's Central Election Commission announced on Thursday night the results from the first round of the November 3 local elections.

Mayors for 13 municipalities were elected after 46.34 percent of registered voters voted.

From the candidates, the Democratic Party of Kosovo won in four municipalities, Democratic League of Kosovo in three and Citizen's Initiative Srpska in three. Meanwhile, the Democratic Union of Dardania, Turkish Justice Party of Kosovo, and independent candidate Refki Suma each won in one municipality.

In the second round of voting scheduled for December 1, citizens will vote in 24 municipalities.

A re-vote will be held on Novermber 17 in three municipalities in predominantly Serbian North Mitrovica, where the November 3 election process was aborted after masked men attacked ballot boxes at polling places.

The two largest parties, the Democratic Party of Kosovo and Democratic League of Kosovo, will compete in eight municipalities.
