Serbia will not follow neighbor Hungary in sending back refugees, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said Wednesday.

“Serbia will not imitate Hungary and will not hold a show on its borders,” he told a news conference in Belgrade.

His remarks came after Gyorgy Bakondi, the chief adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, said Monday that refugees caught near the borders with Serbia and Croatia would be sent back to the border to be checked.

Meanwhile, Serbian Social Affairs Minister Aleksandar Vulin said Serbia would not become a “parking space” for refugees.

“We have not observed an increase in the number of refugees in Serbia but we cannot say that the crisis is over as long as there are refugees in Serbia or in any other country,” he said.
