The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on Monday halted gas supplies to Russia for technical reasons, according to a statement from Russian gas giant Gazprom.
A daily supply of 3 million cubic meters of gas has been transferred to Russia since December 1, instead of the 9.13 million cubic meters according to an agreement signed by the two companies in 2009, the statement said.
The statement did not specify when the deliveries will resume.
“Gas supplies from SOCAR to Russia have decreased by 31.5 percent to 1.37 billion cubic meters of gas in 2013,” the statement said.
Gazprom signed a supplying agreement with SOCAR in October 2009 and first began importing natural gas from SOCAR in January 2010.
A five-year extension of the deal was signed in 2012.
Russia currently supplies 25 percent of Europe's gas imports. Gazprom recently revealed that the supply of natural gas to Europe and Turkey has grown by 16 percent in 2013 to 162.7 billion cubic meters.Güncelleme Tarihi: 16 Ocak 2014, 17:03
