The Qafqaz University (Caucasus University) which is known to be owned by the FETÖ/PDY extremist group that attempted the coup in Turkey, has been closed down.
The founder of the Qafqaz University issued a statement from Azerbaijan's Education Ministry about the closure of the university.
“In this regard, the Education Ministry said that after receiving relevant documents, it will create a working group in order to ensure the continuation of education of the university's students and will carry out the process of their placement,” the statement said.
No further information hasn't been forwarded yet.
The decision was declared only days after the foiled coup that left 140 people martyred, including 173 civilians, and left more than 1,500 people wounded.
Responsible for the attempted coup is the FETÖ/PDY (parallel state structure) extremist organization headed by US-based Fetullah Gülen, as 8,660 people have been detained and 990 others arrested over their suspected links with the extremist group.
