According to a report published in Pakistan today, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Mr Modi’s visit to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is expected to be the focus for various energy and mining projects, including TAPI.
According to the report, the ‘multi-billion dollar TAPI project could be off to a year-end start, as the legal framework is expected to be in place by September, followed by the announcement of the consortium’.
Turkmenistan ambassador Parakhat H. Durdyev said on Monday that developments related to the 1,078-mile pipeline that will transport natural gas off the Caspian Sea resort of Avaza to India via Afghanistan and Pakistan will be announced shortly.
Modi will discuss countering the spread of ISIL with the leaders during his next week visit, local media reported on Wednesday.
Modi will also travel to the Russian city of Ufa to attend the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization summits, The Hindu daily reported.
The prime minister will discuss counter-terror technology, training forces and also countering radicalism, according to newspaper.
Indian government has recently appointed a special envoy to liaise with governments abroad on the terror issue.
