Iran's president has described ties between his country and Turkey as brotherly and constructive.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who arrived in Turkey to attend the 11th summit meeting of the heads of state and government of the Economic Cooperation Council (ECO), held a press conference in Istanbul on Thursday.

Speaking at the gathering, Ahmadinejad said the cooperation between Turkey and Iran improved with each passing day, adding such improvement was for the benefit of the two countries, their region and the whole world.

Ahmadinejad noted that culture of Iran, Turkey and other countries in the region, which were based on principles of friendship and justice, had the potential to meet the needs and solve the problems of humanity.

The Iranian president also said countries like Turkey and Iran developed rapidly and major opportunities waited for them.

"We believe the great nations of Iran and Turkey will have a bright future," the president added.
