Cameroon's Defense Minister in Turkey for talks

Cameroon's Defense Minister Alain Mebe Ngo'o paid a visit to Turkish National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul in Ankara on Wednesday.

Ngo'o was welcomed to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense with an official ceremony.

Speaking to reporters while receiving Ngo'o, Gonul said that relations between Turkey and Cameroon had developed rapidly in recent times.

The most important step taken in relations with Cameroon was Turkey's decision to open an embassy in Cameroon in 2010. Turkish President Abdullah Gul's recent visit to Cameroon was also crucial for bilateral relations, Gonul stressed.

We have no problems with Cameroon. We will discuss today bilateral issues pertaining to the military and defense industry, Gonul noted.

Ngo'o, in his part, said that he thanked Minister Gonul for the warm welcome.

President Gul's visit to Cameroon was a starting point for bilateral relations to develop. Following Gul's visit to Cameroon, Turkey appointed an ambassador to Cameroon. We are in the process of appointing an ambassador to Turkey, Ngo'o said.

We are here as a partner of Turkey. We came here with the will to develop bilateral relations. As Minister Gonul indicated, there are no problems between Turkey and Cameroon. We arrived in Ankara to promote bilateral relations and discuss the details, Ngo'o said.
