A Dutch court has ruled that Turkish citizens could enter Netherlands without visa.
District Haarlem Court heard a case filed by Turkish businessman Cahit Yilmaz two years ago and ruled that Turkish citizens could enter Netherlands without visa and they could stay in the country up to three months without residence permit. Yilmaz who did not have visa was not allowed to enter Netherlands at Schiphol Airport.
The court made the decision on the ground of Ankara Agreement that was signed between Turkey and EU in 1963 and Article 41 of the Additional Protocol.
Yilmaz's attorney Ejder Kose said that the ruling that was made by the District Haarlem Court on February 14 took effect as of February 16, 2011.
"The ruling is an important one. Turkish people can visit Netherlands for touristic purposes without visa," Kose said.
