Eroglu says Cyprus deal must be accepted by Turks, Greeks

President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Dervis Eroglu said Monday an agreement to be reached in Cyprus must be accepted by the two peoples, must be both viable and permanent.

President Dervis Eroglu met Nikos Anastasiades, the leader of the Greek Cypriot Democratic Rally Party (DISI), over dinner at his private residence in Lefkosa, TRNC.

Eroglu and Anastasiades talked to reporters following their two-hour dinner.

Anastasiades thanked President Eroglu for the dinner and said that a political will was needed in Cyprus to find a solution.

We will not forget the past but we need to look at the future by being brave, Anastasiades noted.

President Eroglu thanked Anastasiades and his spouse for attending the dinner on Monday.

I can state that Anastasiades and we share the same opinion that negotiations in Cyprus must be concluded with an agreement. This agreement should be one accepted by the two peoples in Cyprus and should be both viable and permanent, President Eroglu said.

The dinner was held in a sincere atmosphere and it was fruitful, Eroglu also said.
