Gul to become first Turkish president to visit Yemen

Turkish President Abdullah Gul will travel to Yemen on a two-day formal visit on January 10 and 11, Gul's office said in a statement on Friday.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul will travel to Yemen on a two-day formal visit on January 10 and 11, Gul's office said in a statement on Friday.

Gul will be visiting Yemen at the invitation of Yemen's President Ali Abdlallah Salih. He will be the first Turkish president to visit Yemen.

Gul will be accompanied by a large delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc, Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, Health Minister Recep Akdag, lawmakers, academicians, journalists and businesspeople.

During his stay in Yemen, Gul will have meetings with Yemen's President Salih, Prime Minister Ali Muhammad Mujawwar, Foreign Minister Abubakr Al Qirbi and also address the Turkey-Yemen Business Forum.

He will also visit the Turkish cemetery built in Sana in memory of Turkish soldiers killed in Yemen and open a Turkish-Yemen vocational high school.
