Irish Gaza activist says Israel used electroshock weapons

An Irish citizen who was injured during Israeli forces' raid on a six-ship flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza said on Friday that if activists who were injured during the attack and later died had been not waited aboard the ship for hours and received medical treatment, they could have been alive now.

After being brought to Turkey for medical treatment, Irish citizen al-Mehdi Abdulhamid al-Harrati talked to the AA correspondent about what happened during Israel's raid.

Al-Mehdi said that Israeli troops attacked on them with weapons, tear gas bombs and electroshock weapons.

"They were shooting randomly with real bullets. I saw that many people were wounded during shooting by Israeli troops," al-Mehdi said.

Al-Mehdi said he was handcuffed and beaten by Israeli forces and some of activists were thrown overboard.

He said he was also shot in the attack, adding that if activists who were injured during the attack and later died had been not waited aboard the ship for hours and received medical treatment, they could have been alive now.

Al-Mehdi said, "activists on board only aimed to take humanitarian aid to the people in Gaza. Lifting of embargo on Gaza was the main goal."

"What Israel did on board was an atrocity," he said.

Al-Mehdi said there was only humanitarian aid, not any weapon on board the ship.
