Lebanon offers condolence to Turkey for Israeli killings

Lebanese President Michel Sulayman offered condolence to Turkey following the Israeli attack on ships carrying aid to Gaza.

Sulayman called Turkish President Abdullah Gul on the phone on Tuesday, and offered condolences to relatives of victims.

Gul thanked Lebanon for the support it extended both before UN Security Council session and during the preparation of the presidential statement yesterday.

Sulayman told Gul that Lebanon, although its council presidency ended as of today, would continue to support Turkey all the time.

Israeli navy forces raided a convoy of ships of Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) carrying humanitarian aid for Gaza, killing at least 9 people and injuring 30 others on Monday.

Turkey strongly protested Israel and recalled its ambassador.

Four of nine people who died in Israeli navy forces' attack on Gaza-bound aid flotilla were Turkish citizens.

The UN Security Council, which convened in an emergency session upon Turkey's call, condemned the Israeli intervention.
