Museveni calls for Turkish investment in Uganda

Uganda's President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday said his country and Turkey could cooperate in a broad area of issues, inviting Turkish businesspeople to make investments in Uganda.

"Africa is awakening now and Turkey is becoming a more modern country in Europe. The number of cooperation areas with Turkey is vast. And I am here in Turkey to explore these areas," Museveni told a joint press conference after a meeting with Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Museveni said Uganda offered business opportunities to Turkish investors in infrastructure projects as well as trade of goods and services.

"That would mean for Uganda an opportunity to overcome the economic dire strait it faces," he said.
