Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that there was need for a change in position of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) for implementation of new cooperation structure and vision.

"Within this context, member countries should have more active roles," Erdogan said in his inaugural speech at the ministerial summit of COMCEC in Istanbul on Wednesday.

Erdogan said that he believed cooperation under the roof of COMCEC would be boosted in the coming years.

Global economic problems affected not only Europe and the United States but also COMCEC member states, he said.

COMCEC countries had things to do to bring a sound and stable structure to global economy, the premier said.

Erdogan said that free movement should be increased, solidarity should be boosted and management should be bettered among COMCEC member countries.
