Turkey and Azerbaijan unite their strength for the sake of their people and the region, and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which carries Caspian oil to world markets, is "the harvest of this unification and dynamism", said Turkish President Abdullah Gul.

Hosting a dinner for visiting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the Turkish capital Ankara on Tuesday, Gul said the pipeline carries not only Caspian oil but also peace and stability to the world and added " We are determined to further develop it."

Stressing the strong relations between the two countries, Gul said " We need to improve our strategic partnership with new projects."

Gul expressed optimism over the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project that will unite the railway networks of Central Asia, the Caucasus and China with those of Turkey and Europe, allowing easy shipping of cargo between Asia and Europe.

The railway project is expected to be completed by 2014.

Gul also expressed hope that the Azerbaijani-Turkish Trans-Anatolia Pipeline Project (TANAP),which will carry Azerbaijani gas to Europe via Turkey, would be launched soon.

Meanwhile, Aliyev reiterated that the two "sister countries" have strong relations.

Emphasizing Turkey's emergence as world power, Aliyev said "Strong Turkey means strong Azerbaijan."

He also stressed the importance of cooperation on energy and transportation.

"Efforts will continue to improve bilateral relations," he added.
