Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on Thursday said that they hoped the tense situation at the Turkish-Syrian border would not lead to Turkish troops entering Syria.
Speaking at a forum in Greece on Thursday, Bogdanov said that they believed there had to be close coordination between Turkish and Syrian officials so that Wednesday's incident at the south-eastern town of Akcakale does not repeat.
Bogdanov's comments came after Syrian artillery shells landed in Akcakale town on Wednesday killing 5 Turks and wounding 9 others.
Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukasevic stressed that Wednesday's incident at the Turkish-Syrian border had to be investigated by an impartial authority.
