Presidents of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia attended "The Trilateral Summit of Turkey-Bosnia-Herzegovina-Serbia" in Istanbul on Saturday.

Appearing at a joint press conference together with Turkish President Abdullah Gul after the summit, Serbian President Boris Tadic said that his country supported and desired Bosnia Herzegovina's sovereignty and independence.

Describing his country as a great neighbor for Bosnia, Tadic said Serbia would support Bosnia on its way to the EU.

The Serbian president also said that his country would never take any wrong steps that would harm Bosnia's stability.

Commenting on Turkish-Serbian relations as well, Tadic said the two countries could launch a strategic cooperation while their economic ties kept improving.

"Historic summit"

Bosnia-Herzegovina's President Haris Silajdzic in his part that he was quite pleased to attend such a historic summit.

Thanking the Turkish president and government for their efforts to establish a lasting peace in the region, Silajdzic said Serbian President's remarks, in which he stated that his country would not attempt to harm the unity of Bosnia, were of great importance for the Bosnian nation.

Pointing to his country's EU bid, Silajdzic said, "We are trying to achieve all our goals together with the countries around us".

Noting that his country would develop its relations within the scope of good faith, Silajdzic said, "This way, peace will be inevitable".
